The teachers are going on strike… and the kids need something to do. So, we have teamed up with the Ottawa Senators for a Strike Day Free Skate!

Join us at the Bells Sensplex in Kanata where the kids (and the kids at heart) can burn off some energy to make your Strike Day easier.

When:

Monday, January 20th– 9:15am to 11:15am

Tuesday, January 21-1pm to 3pm

Unsupervised Public Skating Program Rules of Conduct as by Bell Sensplex & Capital Sports Management:

Patrons are asked to obey the following rules of conduct to ensure a safe and pleasant skating experience:

  1. Patrons must respect fellow skaters and the rules outlined below. Please report all accidents or injuries to the on-site supervisor immediately.
  2. It is highly recommended that all skaters wear a CSA-approved helmet during all skating sessions.
  3. Skaters are asked to skate at a sensible and safe speed in the same direction as other skaters. Please stop when the whistle is sounded.
  4. The middle of the ice surface is reserved for children and less confident skaters.
  5. Wheelchairs, Strollers and Skating Aids:
    • Wheelchairs, strollers and E-Z gliders are permitted during Family and Public skating sessions with the accompaniment of a responsible person on skates.
    • Wheels must be cleaned prior to entering the ice surface to ensure the safety of all other skaters.
    • Helmets are required for stroller and wheelchair occupants.
    • Wheelchair/stroller occupants are asked to utilize the perimeter of the ice closest to the boards as recommended by the Ontario Recreation Facilities Association.
    • Chairs are not permitted on the ice.
  6. Patrons of City facilities are personally responsible for ensuring that they are fit to participate in physical activities.  Anyone with a condition affecting his/her ability to participate must take appropriate safety precautions to ensure his/her own safety and is encouraged to be accompanied by an adult who is knowledgeable about his/her condition.
  7. Only persons wearing skates are permitted on the ice surface.
  8. The following Rules of Conduct must be adhered to by all patrons:
    • NO carrying children while on the ice surface (including baby carriers).
    • No headsets, cell phones, or hand-held electronic devices are to be used while skating.
    • No Food and drinks and are not permitted on the ice surface. They are to be enjoyed in the lobby or stands.
    • Foul language or inappropriate behaviour will result in immediate removal from the facility.
    • No Games, tag, rough-play, horseplay or speed skating. They may be fun for some, but are dangerous to others.
    • No figure skating maneuvers
    • Patrons must skate with the direction of all skaters.
    • Patrons must conduct themselves appropriately at all times.
  9. Patrons attending Unsupervised Skates must have a responsible adult of 18 years of age to accompany children 12 years and under.
  10. Facility Operator Duties:
    • The operator on duty is responsible for the safe skating conditions and will make the final decision relative to safety considerations.
    • To ensure the safety of all patrons, the time allocated for Public Skating sessions may be reduced in order to accommodate ice maintenance.

Patrons using the rink do so at their own risk. The Bell Sensplex does not accept responsibility for related risks or injuries.
